Noboa and Abinader lead security-focused government initiatives
In Ecuador, a September 2026 poll by Click Research reveals a divided public perception of President Daniel Noboa’s administration. While his approval rating stands at 43.88% and disapproval at 49.49%, security presents a paradox. The fight against crime is cited by 31.58% of respondents as the government’s primary achievement, and the Armed Forces and National Police maintain high approval ratings of 75.98% and 69.49%, respectively. Conversely, the increase in insecurity is the top criticism, noted by 25.58% of those surveyed.
In the Dominican Republic, President Luis Abinader is leading follow-up meetings for the National Citizen Security Plan. The sessions aim to evaluate implemented actions and strengthen strategies to ensure public protection. Abinader has emphasized a commitment to capturing repeat offenders through the Joint Task Force, stating that despite statistical decreases in some areas, the government remains focused on combating impunity to bring peace to the streets.
