Daniel Obajtek denies plans to flee Poland amid immunity request

European Parliament member and PiS politician Daniel Obajtek has stated he has no intention of fleeing abroad, despite receiving suggestions to do so. This follows a request by prosecutor Waldemar Żurek to the European Parliament to strip Obajtek of his immunity and authorize his temporary arrest.

The investigation concerns allegations of fuel price manipulation at Orlen stations prior to the 2023 parliamentary elections, during Obajtek's tenure as the company's president. Obajtek has dismissed the prosecution's claims as “sick” and “abnormal,” characterizing the proceedings as a political spectacle.

In a recent interview, Obajtek challenged investigators to provide evidence of any material benefit he received from these actions. He maintained that he is prepared to face the justice system, stating, “I will take it on the chin,” and noted that he does not require agents to come looking for him as he will present himself when possible.
