Daniel Osvaldo recovers after surgery for severe lung infection

Former footballer Daniel Osvaldo is recovering following a life-threatening pulmonary infection. The 40-year-old was hospitalized urgently after experiencing symptoms he initially mistook for the flu or muscle pain.

Medical reports indicate the infection may have originated from an untreated cavity in a tooth, allowing bacteria to enter the system and compromise his lung. The condition led to a pleural effusion, involving an accumulation of fluid and pus around the right lung.

Following an intensive care period, Osvaldo underwent a surgical procedure this past weekend to drain the accumulated pus and remove infection residue. Medical professionals noted the severity of the case, suggesting his physical conditioning as an athlete played a role in his survival. As of mid-October, he has been moved to intermediate care and is responding favorably to treatment.
