Daniel Pereira Mujica wins Ciudad del Este mayoral election

Daniel Pereira Mujica, representing the Yo Creo movement, has won the mayoral election in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, with a decisive majority. According to final election results, Mujica secured approximately 72.8% to 72.9% of the vote, receiving over 93,000 votes.

His closest competitor, Rigoberto Chamorro of the Colorado Party, finished in second place with roughly 23.7% to 23.8% of the vote. Other candidates, including Angélica Mora and Luis Cuellar, received less than 1% of the total vote.

Mujica attributed his victory to the municipal management of recent years, citing improvements in roadworks, public spaces, water provision, and education. He noted that the result represents a continuity of the political process previously led by Miguel Prieto. Following the win, the Yo Creo movement aims to expand its influence by seeking a majority in the Municipal Council, targeting nine seats.
