Daniel Quintero challenges witness in Itagüí corruption probe

Daniel Quintero Calle, the former mayor of Medellín, has challenged the testimony of Misael Cadavid, a key witness in a corruption investigation involving the Itagüí Volunteer Fire Department. The investigation concerns six contracts signed between the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area (AMVA) and the fire department during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quintero Calle claims there are significant inconsistencies between Cadavid’s statements to the Prosecutor's Office and financial records. Specifically, he noted a discrepancy between the 2.4 billion pesos allegedly withdrawn via checks and the 940 million pesos attributed to withdrawals made by Cadavid’s driver, Germán Osorio. Additionally, Quintero Calle pointed out that Cadavid reportedly acquired assets valued at 2.7 billion pesos during the period the contracts were being paid.
