Daniel Theis reveals unpaid salaries at AS Monaco

Basketball player Daniel Theis has revealed that players and staff at AS Monaco went unpaid for three months due to financial difficulties. The crisis was triggered by sanctions imposed on club owner Alexey Fedorychev because of his connections to Russia, which resulted in frozen accounts and halted cash flows.

Theis stated that the situation brought the team to the brink of abandoning the season. He noted that even head coach Vassilis Spanoulis went for an extended period without receiving his salary. The club was only able to complete the season after the Monegasque princely family intervened to secure financing, eventually leading to a French championship.

In addition to the financial turmoil at Monaco, Theis reported that his planned move to ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne has fallen through.
