Daniel Tupou's shoulder injury sidelines Roosters winger and threatens appearance record

Winger Daniel Tupou dislocated his shoulder in round 21 of the NRL season and is expected to miss about five weeks of play. He will avoid surgery and focus on rehabilitation, hoping to return before the finals if the Sydney Roosters remain in contention.

The injury jeopardises Tupou's chance to become the club’s most‑capped player. He has appeared in 302 games, three short of Jared Waerea‑Hargreaves’ record of 310 and eight games away from overtaking it. With six regular‑season games left, the setback may end his pursuit of the appearance milestone.

Sydney Roosters captain James Tedesco said Tupou remained calm after the incident and praised his contribution, noting the team will miss his carries and high‑ball ability but has depth in the squad.
