Daniel Vorcaro: STF processes indictments in Banco Master fraud case

Supreme Court Justice Edson Fachin has requested that the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGR) issue opinions on several legal requests regarding the investigation into former banker Daniel Vorcaro. The Federal Police have indicted Vorcaro and 14 others for alleged financial fraud involving Banco Master and the Banco Regional de Brasília (BRB), with estimated losses reaching approximately R$ 2.7 billion to R$ 3 billion.

Vorcaro, who has been in preventive detention since March, is seeking release, arguing that the investigation lacks new facts to justify continued imprisonment. Justice Fachin is also reviewing requests for the release of Vorcaro’s father, Henrique, and his cousin, Felipe. Additionally, Justice Fachin maintained the preventive detention of Fabiano Zettel, Vorcaro’s brother-in-law and an alleged financial operator, rejecting a request for humanitarian house arrest.

Parallel to the criminal proceedings, reports have emerged regarding Vorcaro’s mobile phone, which allegedly recorded 316 interactions with Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes in the two months preceding Vorcaro’s arrest in November 2025. These records include messages and calls, some of which suggest a meeting in Brasília shortly before the arrest. Justice Moraes has denied the authenticity of these communications, labeling them as false and fictitious.
