Brazilian ex-banker Daniel Vorcaro linked to dossiés, documentary contract and intimidation scheme
Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of the now‑liquidated Banco Master, is at the centre of Brazil’s Operation Compliance Zero. Federal Police searches in Brasília uncovered a draft contract showing Vorcaro signed an agreement with publicist Thiago Miranda to produce a documentary about the “Caso Banco Master” while Vorcaro was detained in March 2026.
Investigators also found messages in which Vorcaro ordered Miranda to compile a dossier containing personal and financial data on Itaú Unibanco CEO Milton Maluhy and his wife, intended for media outlets to discredit the couple. The same scheme targeted journalist Malu Gaspar, among others, using illicit data collection and intimidation tactics.
The Federal Bank Federation (Febraban) labelled the dossiés “of extreme gravity,” and the STF judge André Mendonça described the group’s activities as having “mafia‑like” characteristics. Additional evidence showed Vorcaro attempting to manipulate public app ratings for the Banco Master platform and to influence media coverage through paid posts.
The investigation continues, focusing on the criminal network allegedly orchestrated by Miranda and financed by Vorcaro, with potential charges for data invasion, intimidation and organized crime.
