Daniel Vorcaro messages reveal media attacks against Itaú
Leaked messages from Daniel Vorcaro, the former controller of Banco Master, reveal a coordinated effort to launch media attacks against Itaú Unibanco and its top executives. The communications, involving advertiser and businessman Thiago Miranda, show that the strategy was discussed as early as late 2024.
In one instance, Vorcaro requested a dossier on Itaú CEO Milton Maluhy Filho, stating that the executive was “causing me a lot of problems.” The messages also show coordination regarding the publication of articles on the Portal LeoDias, which featured headlines about alleged internal scandals at Itaú.
These discussions occurred while major Brazilian banks were alerting the Central Bank regarding Banco Master’s business model, specifically its reliance on deposits covered by the Credit Guaranty Fund (FGC). As the largest bank in Brazil, Itaú is the primary associate of the FGC.
