Daniel Vorcaro signs prison documentary contract as Brazil police probe influence scheme

Brazilian Federal Police (PF) seized a contract at the home of publicist Thiago Miranda that was signed by ex‑banker Daniel Vorcaro on 31 March while he was detained in the PF headquarters in Brasília. The contract calls for a six‑month production of a documentary series titled “Caso Banco Master” about the collapsed Banco Master.

Investigators say the contract prompted deeper scrutiny of a broader scheme in which Vorcaro allegedly hired Miranda’s agency to commission dossiers on rivals, recruit influencers to attack the Central Bank and journalists, and funnel wine shipments to Fernando Cavalcanti, a target of another fraud probe. Miranda handed his passport to PF after a Supreme Court order and announced the closure of his agency MiThi, claiming full cooperation.

Vorcaro remains in preventive detention at the “Papudinha” prison as part of Operation Compliance Zero, which examines alleged corruption, money‑laundering and intimidation linked to Banco Master. Lawyer Cezar Bitencourt, known for negotiating plea deals, has met with Vorcaro in prison to discuss a possible collaboration agreement, though no deal has been reached.
