Daniel Vorcaro's defense seeks revocation of detention

Lawyers for former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the former Banco Master, have requested the revocation of his preventive detention from Supreme Federal Court (STF) President Edson Fachin. Vorcaro is currently under investigation in ‘Operação Compliance Zero’ for alleged corruption of public agents and multi-billion dollar financial fraud.

The defense argues that the investigations have been stalled due to a request for more time (pedido de vista) by Minister Flávio Dino during a plenary session on September 15. This delay has left the processes related to the operation paralyzed in Fachin’s office.

Attorneys contend that Vorcaro cannot remain imprisoned indefinitely while the Supreme Court faces an institutional impasse regarding the case's rapporteurship. They noted that the former banker has been in custody since November of last year and has been held for more than 90 days without a ruling on his release appeal.
