Daniela Dessì: Remembering the Italian soprano ten years after her death

Ten years after her passing on August 20, 2016, the legacy of Italian soprano Daniela Dessì is being commemorated. Born in Genoa in 1957, Dessì was noted for her ability to combine a strong bel canto foundation with a wide-ranging repertoire that expanded into dramatic and verismo roles.

After studying at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, she debuted in 1978. Her career progressed from baroque and Mozartian works to major roles in operas by Verdi, Puccini, and others, including 'Tosca', 'Aida', and 'Madama Butterfly'.
