Daniela Hantuchová criticizes top WTA players' conduct
Former world number five Daniela Hantuchová has criticized several top-ranked female tennis players, including Iga Swiatek, regarding their professional conduct and lack of engagement with tournament responsibilities.
In a podcast interview with Canal+ Sport, Hantuchová, who served as a liaison for the Madrid Open, claimed that none of the top five female players were willing to spend ten minutes participating in a promotional event with a main sponsor. She contrasted this with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who reportedly complied without issue.
Hantuchová also shared specific anecdotes involving Swiatek’s team. She described an incident where Swiatek allegedly presented her with dirty laundry to ask what to do with it, an act Hantuchová found inappropriate. Additionally, she recounted a moment during a power outage at the Madrid tournament when Swiatek’s mental coach, Daria Abramowicz, requested warm chicken, leading Hantuchová to question the request given the chaotic circumstances.
