Daniela Souza wins gold at Brazil Open G2

Mexican taekwondo athlete Daniela Souza won the gold medal in the 49 kg category at the Brazil Open G2. In the final match, Souza defeated Brazilian competitor Camilly Gosch to secure the title.

This victory earned Souza 20 points toward the Olympic ranking, a critical step in her pursuit of qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Prior to the tournament, Souza was ranked 29th with 34.35 points. By securing a top position in this competition, she aims to move closer to the top five spots in the world rankings, which grant direct access to the Olympic Games.

Souza, a 27-year-old athlete who previously competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics, received congratulations from the Mexican Olympic Committee and the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE) following her performance.
