Daniele Compatangelo's body to return to Italy following death in Washington D.C

The body of journalist Daniele Compatangelo, a White House correspondent for La7, is scheduled to return to Italy on September 2 via a United Airlines flight from Washington D.C. to Rome Fiumicino. Following his arrival, funeral services are expected to be held in Rome on September 3, with burial taking place in Sauze di Cesana on September 5.

Compatangelo passed away in Washington D.C. on July 20. The repatriation process was delayed for over a month due to complex bureaucratic procedures involving both Italian and United States authorities, compounded by his status as a U.S. citizen.

His mother, Renata Freccero, has expressed frustration regarding a lack of clear information from American authorities concerning the exact cause of death. While a detective from the Arlington County Police Department suggested a probable heart attack, a definitive autopsy report may take eight to twelve weeks. Although there has been speculation regarding potential foul play, authorities have not reported any evidence of poisoning, and the FBI has not been involved in the case.
