Daniella Marques discusses Brazilian economy in Natal

Daniella Marques, the former president of Caixa Econômica Federal, participated in a series of economic and financial events in Natal, Brazil. Organized by business strategist Débora de Castro, the engagements included a session with the Chamber of Shopkeepers (CDL) titled ‘Diálogos sobre o Brasil’ and the ‘Almoço Delas’ initiative in partnership with the Commercial Association of RN.

During the CDL event, Marques discussed the national economic landscape, highlighting the potential of the Northeast region in sectors such as tourism and fruit farming. She addressed critical challenges facing Brazil, specifically high household debt and rising taxes. Marques emphasized the need for fiscal responsibility, stating, ‘a government that does not take care of accounts, does not take care of people.’

Marques advocated for emergency measures to reduce indebtedness and restore the purchasing power of families and businesses. She suggested that controlling public spending is essential to lowering interest rates, which would subsequently reduce the cost of food and debt repayments. The discussions also touched upon the importance of female autonomy in the economy and the need for public subsidies to help local businesses remain competitive.
