Daniil Medvedev ends 10‑month partnership with coach Thomas Johansson

Russian world‑ No. 2 Daniil Medvedev has terminated his working relationship with Swedish coach Thomas Johansson after roughly ten months together. Johansson, hired in September 2022, guided Medvedev to three ATP titles – in Almaty, Brisbane and Dubai – and a final appearance at Indian Wells. The split follows a season of inconsistent Grand Slam results, with Medvedev exiting in the fourth round of the Australian Open, the first round of Roland Garros, and the third round at Wimbledon, as well as early losses at other events.

The decision also comes after Medvedev’s earlier departure from longtime coach Gilles Cervara, ending an eight‑year partnership following last year’s US Open. No successor has been announced, and the Russian player will look to rebuild his team ahead of the upcoming ATP calendar.
