Daniil Medvedev imitates Alexander Bublik in Almaty Open video

Daniil Medvedev has participated in a promotional video for the Almaty Open, where the former world No. 1 imitates fellow ATP player Alexander Bublik. In the clip, Medvedev performs a comedic audition for the role of the Kazakh player, recreating a viral moment from the 2025 Madrid Open.

During that match against Jakub Mensik, Bublik humorously complained to chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani about the increasing difficulty of professional tennis, noting that modern players have become too powerful and consistent. Medvedev’s recreation mimics this monologue, questioning when tennis was ‘easy’ and before opponents learned to hit powerful forehands from the baseline.

Medvedev has a significant history with the Almaty tournament, having won the title in 2025 by defeating Corentin Moutet. That victory marked his 21st ATP Tour title and ended an 882-day trophy drought.
