Danièle Sauvageau appointed GM of Canadian women's national hockey team
Hockey Canada announced that 64‑year‑old Danièle Sauvageau will serve as general manager and vice‑president of hockey operations for the Canadian women’s national team, beginning next year on a three‑year contract. She will also retain her role as general manager of the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s Montreal Victoire for the 2026‑27 season. Sauvageau, who coached Canada to its first Olympic gold in women’s hockey in 2002 and to world championships in 1999 and 2001, was the first woman inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 2025.
