Danilo leads midfielders in scoring for Botafogo
Botafogo midfielder Danilo has emerged as the highest-scoring midfielder in the 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro. Following a goal in a 1-1 draw against Coritiba, Danilo reached 10 goals in the national tournament, surpassing Cruzeiro's Matheus Pereira.
In his most prolific season to date, the 25-year-old has recorded 13 goals in 37 matches for Botafogo, contributing to 21 total goal involvements including seven assists. His performance has earned him a call-up for the 2026 World Cup.
While Danilo remains a key asset for Botafogo, his future at the club is uncertain. The organization has expressed openness to offers, setting an asking price of approximately 30 million euros, though initial expectations from the board were higher, ranging between 35 and 40 million euros.
