Danilo Silva arrested for impersonating ICE agent at Miami polling site

Danilo Alves Silva, a 46-year-old Brazilian national, was arrested in Miami on Sunday, Oct 4, after allegedly impersonating an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent at a polling site. The incident occurred at the Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus during the first round of the Brazilian presidential elections.

Silva reportedly arrived at the location wearing a Brazilian national football team shirt to cast his vote. After voting, he returned to his vehicle and changed into clothing intended to mimic an ICE agent, including a blue jacket, cap, sunglasses, a mask, and tactical boots. Investigators stated that his presence and aggressive behavior caused fear among Brazilian voters, some of whom were not U.S. citizens and feared deportation.

Following his arrest, Silva allegedly threatened a detective and attempted to bribe law enforcement officers with bank transfers. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Silva faces multiple charges, including voter intimidation, conspiracy to commit bribery, illegal use of police insignia, and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting a $5,650 bond, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for October 19.
