Danish child safety experts warn of risks on popular digital platforms

Danish authorities and child welfare organizations are raising alarms regarding the safety of popular digital platforms used by children and adolescents. The Danish Council for Children and Young People has expanded its Platforms Guide to include Ønskeskyen, Twitch, Steam, and Reddit. The guide utilizes icons to help parents quickly identify specific risks associated with these services, including social shopping, livestreaming, and anonymous forums.

Simultaneously, concerns have intensified regarding the gaming platform Roblox. Digital media expert Kathrine Elmose from Børns Vilkår has highlighted the risk of grooming on the platform, noting that children are often contacted by older individuals through its chat functions. The platform has been linked to a criminal investigation involving a 15-year-old girl from Hedensted, where a suspect allegedly met the victim through the game. This follows previous international reports regarding predatory behavior on the platform.
