Danish cities honor excellence in architecture and urban transformation
Danish cities Odense and Aalborg have announced winners for their respective architectural awards.
In Odense, the Architecture Prize 2026 recognized the Activity House at Dalum Papirfabrik in the Transformation category and Dymak in the New Construction category. City and Culture Councilor Lars Chr. Lilleholt noted that the winners demonstrate how both new builds and transformations can add value to the city through high architectural quality.
In Aalborg, nearly 2,000 citizens participated in voting for the ‘Citizens’ Favorite’ award. The transformation of Absalonsgade 16-18 won this category, highlighting a public preference for preserving and renewing existing buildings. Other recognized projects in Aalborg include the Alfred Nobel daycare center, the Fjordpladsen urban space at Stigsborg Brygge, the former GASA building on Gøteborgvej, and the Kirkelien development in Nørre Tranders.
