Danish Communities Launch New After‑School Clubs for Children
In the town of Nykøbing Mors, MorsØ FC, Morsø Multipark and Dueholmskolen have opened the Multiklubben on 11 August. The club offers children in 4th‑6th grade a safe after‑school environment with football, indoor activities, dance, creative café, board games and a special “Ro & Bevægelse” programme for girls. Introductory fees are DKK 150 for August, rising to DKK 240 per month. The initiative, led by former first‑division player and social‑worker Hanne Bülow, aims to improve children’s wellbeing through strong peer relations.
On the island of Bornholm, volunteers have created three new clubs – Klub Knud in Rønne, Klub Helle in Nexø and Klub Nord in Allinge – after municipal budget cuts left a gap in after‑school provision. The clubs provide creative and physical activities for pupils aged 10‑13 and call on local politicians to restore public funding for such services. Both projects illustrate a growing civil‑society response to ensure Danish children have reliable, community‑based leisure options after school.
