Danish drivers urged to fit summer tires and service air‑conditioning before heat wave

With spring temperatures consistently rising above seven degrees Celsius, Danish motorists are advised to replace winter tyres with summer tyres. Summer tyres provide improved road grip, shorter braking distances, greater stability and lower rolling resistance, which can reduce fuel consumption or extend electric‑vehicle range. The harder rubber compound and water‑channeling tread pattern also lower the risk of aquaplaning, enhancing safety for families and commuters during the busy summer months.

At the same time, the Danish Automobile Association (FDM) warns that many drivers neglect their vehicle’s climate‑control system before long trips to southern Europe. In hot conditions the air‑conditioning must work harder to keep passengers and, for electric cars, battery systems cool. Failure can lead to costly repairs—up to DKK 25,000 for gasoline or diesel cars and as much as DKK 80,000 for electric vehicles. FDM recommends a climate‑control service check at least every two years, preferably before the summer holiday season, to avoid breakdowns and expensive repairs.
