Denmark approves new property tax category for agricultural and nature lands

The Danish Parliament has passed a new law to consolidate agricultural, forest, and nature properties into a single taxation category. This change, effective from January 1, 2027, aims to prevent smaller nature-based properties from being taxed as residential homes, which would have imposed significant financial burdens. The new classification will impact approximately 13,000 properties, with tax implications beginning in 2028.

In related agricultural developments, the organization Landbrug & Fødevarer has expressed full support for farmers near Nissum Fjord who have paused tripartite environmental negotiations. The pause is a protest against what farmers describe as unreasonable requirements and uncertain state compensation.

Additionally, the company BJ-Agro has rescheduled its annual variety show in Hovborg to September 3. The move is intended to allow potato growers to participate in upcoming industry meetings and demonstrations regarding new nitrogen regulations and fungal strategies, which are viewed as having serious consequences for Danish agriculture.
