Danish government proposes new tourist tax for Aarhus and Copenhagen

The Danish government is developing a new tax plan that includes the introduction of a tourist tax in Copenhagen and Aarhus. According to reports, the proposed levy would charge 20 DKK per overnight stay. Additionally, the government intends to introduce a tax on cruise ships.

These new revenues are intended to finance a broader tax package currently being negotiated in the Folketing. The larger plan includes measures such as the abolition of the middle tax up to the top tax threshold, the removal of the top-top tax, and a gradual reduction in corporate tax.

The government, composed of the Social Democrats, SF, Moderates, and Radical Left, does not hold a majority on its own. To pass the proposal, it is expected to seek support from center-right parties in the opposition.
