Danish Home Guard conducts major regional military exercises
The Danish Home Guard is conducting large-scale military exercises to enhance national readiness in response to a heightened security environment in Europe.
From October 1 to 4, the ‘Aktiveringsøvelse Blåtand’ will deploy thousands of volunteer soldiers across more than 40 cities in Jutland, Funen, and surrounding islands. This exercise is notable for its focus on urban environments, where citizens may encounter armed patrols and military vehicles. The training aims to prepare the Home Guard for rapid response during serious crises. Swedish soldiers are also participating in this regional exercise, which is described as the largest of its kind in recent years.
Additionally, the Home Guard conducted the ‘Absalon Springer’ exercise from September 18 to 20. This operation involved 1,500 volunteers training on Zealand, Lolland-Falster, and Bornholm. The focus of this exercise was the protection and monitoring of critical infrastructure, reflecting the need to respond to potential hostile actions against essential services.
