Danish municipalities manage school budgets and new construction

Danish municipalities are addressing different educational needs through budget adjustments and new infrastructure projects. In Aalborg Municipality, schools face significant budget pressures due to rising costs in special education. While funding is available for 861 students in new 'focus classes,' the actual demand is higher. Specifically, special schools Egebakken and Humlebakkeskolen must find more than 17 million kroner annually to cover increased expenditures.

In Copenhagen, plans are moving forward for a modern primary school in the Nordhavn district at Levantkajen. Scheduled for completion in 2033, the 18,000-square-meter facility will feature a large sports hall, a public library, and views of a local bird island. The school is designed to serve as a community hub, allowing local associations to use the sports facilities and library outside of school hours. Funding for the project is expected to be included in the 2027 budget.
