Danish municipalities to host Flagdagen veteran commemorations

Danish municipalities Jammerbugt and Morsø are organizing local commemorations for Flagdagen on September 5, 2026, to honor veterans who have served in international missions for peace and security.

In Jammerbugt Kommune, the event will be held at DGI Huset Aabybro. The ceremony includes musical entertainment by the Flyvestation Aalborg Brass Band, a flag procession, and a speech by retired Colonel Jens Kofoed, which will focus on support for Ukraine. Participants are invited to a social gathering following the formal proceedings.

Morsø Kommune will host its ceremony in front of the municipal administration building in Nykøbing Mors. The program includes the raising of the Dannebrog accompanied by music, a speech by Deputy Mayor Keld Kortegaard, and a procession to Nykøbing Kirke for a special service. The event aims to show respect and gratitude to local veterans for their service outside of Denmark's borders.
