Danish People's Party promotes remigration policy

The concept of ‘remigration’ has become increasingly prominent in Danish political discourse, particularly within the Danish People's Party (Dansk Folkeparti). The term, which was largely absent from the national vocabulary a decade ago, is being used to advocate for reversing immigration trends rather than simply tightening controls.

Critics note that the term carries a distinct ideological weight, often linked to narratives regarding population replacement. Unlike ‘repatriation’ or ‘return journey’—terms used by previous governments and administrative bodies—remigration is viewed by some as a call for mass deportation. This would involve the forced removal of individuals from non-Western backgrounds, potentially including those with permanent residency or Danish citizenship.

At a recent Danish People's Party party congress, the concept was met with enthusiastic support, signaling its normalization within the party's platform. Party officials, including immigration spokesperson Mikkel Bjørn, have framed the policy as a necessary measure to ‘clean up’ the perceived damage caused by previous immigration levels.
