Danish police crack down on speeding youth on mopeds and scooters

Police in Himmerland have reported an increase in speeding violations involving electric scooters and mopeds. Recently, a 14-year-old was stopped near Aars riding an electric scooter estimated to be traveling at 60 km/h, resulting in the vehicle's seizure. Shortly after, an 18-year-old was stopped on a moped clocked at 64 km/h, significantly exceeding the legal limit for both small and large mopeds. This incident led to a fine and a conditional driver's license revocation.

Authorities noted a growing trend of children and young people using illegal vehicles. In North Jutland alone, police have confiscated 60 electric vehicles this year due to excessive speed or noise violations.

In a separate incident in Holstebro, a 16-year-old boy was charged after attempting to flee from police on a moped near Heimdalsparken. The boy faced charges for driving without a license or insurance, operating an illegal vehicle, and failing to follow police instructions.
