Danish politicians clash over Kærshovedgård deportation center debate

A heated debate has erupted in the Danish Parliament following a consultation regarding the Kærshovedgård deportation center. The tension stems from the use of a photograph of Beate, a woman killed in April 2024 by Milad Sadiqi, an individual subject to deportation who was residing at the center at the time of the accident.

Mikkel Bjørn of the Danish People's Party (Dansk Folkeparti) defended the use of the image, stating it was intended to support the victim's husband, who is advocating for the Kærshovedgård center to be locked. In response, Thomas Skriver Jensen criticized the move, describing the use of the photograph as a “low point for the Folketing” (Parliament).

Disputes also arose regarding the conduct of the meeting. While Bjørn suggested that Jensen walked out of the consultation in protest, Jensen denied this, claiming he merely left to catch a train after the session had effectively concluded.
