Danish politicians spar over social‑media bans and boycotts

Member of the Danish People’s Party (DF) Allan Feldt was prohibited from posting on any social‑media platform after he referred to a street incident as “beasts”. Despite the party’s suspension of his speaking rights, Feldt posted a lengthy message on Facebook urging a petition to deport criminal foreign nationals. The party declined to comment, and Feldt later claimed he was not on Facebook, though the post’s timestamp proved otherwise.

In a separate case, Socialist People’s Party (SF) councilor Bjarne Lund Henneberg from Tønder Municipality abandoned Facebook, TikTok and X to avoid abusive messages and threats. He said the decision was prompted by seeing a televised image of former US President Donald Trump with Mark Zuckerberg, which he felt represented values far from his own. Henneberg reports no loss of votes and stresses the move protects him from harassment, even if it limits his participation in online public debate.
