Danish regions accused of sharing sensitive patient data in AI project
Experts have assessed that the Capital Region of Denmark and Region Sjælland may have violated several laws by sharing sensitive patient information during a large-scale artificial intelligence project.
Internal documents reveal that a total of 105,257 patient messages were shared without being anonymized. The data includes highly sensitive details regarding treatment processes for cancer patients, children with mental illnesses, and other citizens navigating the healthcare system. The shared information covers topics such as anxiety attacks, diagnostic inquiries, and medication renewals. While experts suggest these actions were unlawful, the involved regions have rejected the criticism.
