Danish regions to set age limit for male fertility treatment
Danish regions will introduce an age limit of 55 years for men receiving fertility treatment at public clinics, effective January 1, 2027. According to Danske Regioner, men must be referred for treatment before reaching the age of 55, and all ongoing treatment processes will be concluded once the man turns 56.
The decision was made by the board of Danske Regioner based on a professional health assessment regarding the impact of increasing age on both men and women. Currently, the age limit for women receiving treatment in public clinics is 40.
Men who are already in an ongoing fertility treatment process as of January 1, 2027, will be exempt from these new rules. Additionally, it remains possible for men over the age of 55 to receive fertility treatment at private clinics.
