Danish travelers keep charter demand high, extending summer season into autumn

Denmark’s leading charter operators report record demand this summer. Spies Travel said Mallorca was its most popular charter destination, with about 50,000 Danish guests traveling south and a July that set a revenue record. Its airline Sunclass Airlines saw a 99 % average load factor and concept hotels such as Sunwing, Ocean Beach Club and Sunprime reached 97 % occupancy, while 14,000 Danes chose those hotels – a 15 % increase over last year. Spies also noted a sharp sales surge when Danish weather turned rainy in early July, with bookings jumping 80 % in three days.

Sunweb Group observed a similar trend, with 90 % of its August capacity sold and 80 % of trips for the school autumn break (week 42) already booked. The company expects the summer season to stretch from May to October, highlighting Crete, Rhodes, Turkey’s southern coast and Egypt’s Hurghada as the most sought‑after destinations for late‑summer and autumn travel. Both agencies attribute the pattern to travelers keeping options open longer and a strong appetite for sun‑filled holidays well beyond the traditional school break.
