Danny Boyle’s ‘Ink’ explores the rise of Rupert Murdoch and The Sun

The biographical drama film ‘Ink’, directed by Danny Boyle, explores the 1969 partnership between media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and editor Larry Lamb. The story follows Murdoch’s acquisition of the struggling British newspaper The Sun and the subsequent transformation of the publication into a highly influential, sensationalist tabloid.

Based on the play by James Graham, the film stars Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch and Jack O’Connell as Larry Lamb, with Claire Foy appearing as Jules Davies. The narrative depicts the duo’s efforts to reach underserved audiences through unconventional content, including dedicated sections for women’s issues and provocative reporting that drove skyrocketing sales.

Netflix has announced that ‘Ink’ will be released in US theaters on December 11, 2026, followed by a streaming release on Netflix on January 8, 2027.
