Danny Boyle’s ‘Ink’ to open CineLibri festival

Director Danny Boyle’s new film, ‘Ink’, is set to open the 12th CineLibri International Film and Literature Festival on October 15 at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Bulgaria. This screening follows the film’s debut at the Venice Film Festival and serves as the only opportunity for audiences to view the work before its global premiere in January 2027.

Adapted from James Graham’s stage play, ‘Ink’ explores the origins of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire. The film dramatizes Murdoch’s 1969 acquisition of the British newspaper The Sun and his collaboration with editor Larry Lamb to transform it into a highly influential, sensation-driven tabloid.

Critics describe the film as a hyperkinetic exploration of the rise of tabloid journalism and its role in shaping the modern attention economy, characterized by political polarization and clickbait. The narrative traces how editorial shifts during this era contributed to the global spread of a media model centered on provocation and mass circulation.
