Danny Burmawi launches institute to educate churches on Islam

Danny Burmawi, a former Muslim from Jordan, has founded the Ideological Defense Institute (IDI) in the United States. The organization provides curriculum and training to policymakers and Christian congregations to help them understand Islamic ideology and its impact on Western civilization.

Burmawi, who now serves as CEO of IDI, shared that his conversion to Christianity led him to flee Jordan for Lebanon in 2009 due to safety concerns. He alleged that his brother threatened him with beheading if he returned home. While the specific threat remains uncorroborated, advocacy groups like Open Doors note that converts in the region often face social exclusion and threats of violence.

Through his work, Burmawi aims to encourage Western churches to maintain their convictions and engage more openly with the intersection of faith and politics.
