Danny McBride to join Major League Wrestling as recurring character
Actor and writer Danny McBride is set to become a recurring character for the independent professional wrestling promotion Major League Wrestling (MLW). According to reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McBride filmed material at Arena Coliseo in Mexico City to be featured in upcoming MLW programming.
McBride, known for series such as ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ and ‘Eastbound & Down’, will appear alongside frequent collaborator Steve Little. The duo will help promote a masked luchador named Don Gato, a character whose name is shared with McBride’s tequila brand. The character is depicted as having a fondness for the agave-distilled spirit.
This collaboration stems from an existing relationship between McBride and MLW founder Court Bauer, who previously worked on ‘Eastbound & Down’. McBride is a longtime wrestling fan, and MLW already maintains ties to Hollywood through actor Paul Walter Hauser, who serves as an executive producer and competes for the promotion.
