Dansk Industri survey reveals shifts in municipal business friendliness
Dansk Industri has released its 17th annual survey on municipal business friendliness, revealing significant shifts in rankings across Denmark. In East Jutland, no municipalities placed within the top ten. Skanderborg, which held fifth place last year, dropped seven positions to 12th, while Silkeborg rose from 37th to 15th.
In North Jutland, Rebild emerged as the top performer, ranking third among 91 municipalities. Mariagerfjord and Brønderslev saw substantial improvements, climbing 28 and 22 places respectively. Conversely, Hjørring experienced the largest decline in the region, falling 17 spots from 26th to 43rd. Frederikshavn ranked lowest in the region at 89th.
Peter Birkegaard, chairman of DI Nordjylland, noted that while the progress of several municipalities is positive, the disparity between the highest and lowest-ranked areas is too large. He warned that slow municipal case processing can lead to lost investments and jobs, emphasizing the need for better cooperation between businesses and authorities regarding building and environmental permits.
