Dansàneu festival launches 35th edition in Valls d'Àneu

The Dansàneu Festival, the Pyrenean cultural celebration, opened its 35th edition on July 25‑26, 2026 in the Valls d'Àneu region of Spain. The inaugural evening took place in the town of Sant Joan d’Isil, featuring the contemporary dance company La Veronal’s performance “Sonoma”, directed by Marcos Morau, which sold out weeks in advance.

The opening programme also highlighted local heritage with a commemorative exhibition on the centenary of philanthropist Joaquim Morelló i Nart, a performance‑lecture “Pastilles i excursions” by Laura Aubert, and a reading of the play “Batecs” on themes of perinatal grief. The festival will continue through early August, bringing music, theatre, dance and historical memory to several villages across the Valls d'Àneu.

Organisers emphasised the festival’s aim to decentralise access to high‑level culture, bringing internationally recognised contemporary dance to a small mountain community.
