Danu Robotics develops H. E. R. O. recycling robot

Edinburgh-based Danu Robotics is bringing its H. E. R. O. recycling robot to market, aiming to improve the efficiency and economics of waste sorting. Founded by Amy Ma, the company was inspired by Ma’s observations of ineffective recycling practices while working as a software developer in London.

Unlike competitors that utilize suction-based systems, the H. E. R. O. robot employs a pincer claw to sort materials. The company integrates artificial intelligence to continuously refine its software, a strategy that has already resulted in $500,000 in signed contracts and letters of interest from two major customers.

With over 200 potential customers in its sales pipeline, Danu Robotics is targeting the $20 billion recycling sorting market across Europe and North America. The company recently secured $5 million in late-seed funding to support its commercial expansion.
