Danube Delta administration authorizes Uzlina Canal dredging

The Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Administration (ARBDD) has issued an authorization for the dredging of a section of the Uzlina Canal in Tulcea. This decision follows requests from the Association of Tourism Patronages (APT) of the Danube Delta, which sought urgent intervention due to low water levels caused by drought and reduced Danube flow.

Tourism representatives, including APT President Daniel Ilușcă, emphasized that the canal serves as a vital access route for visitors traveling to areas such as Murighiol, Mila 23, Letea, and Caraorman. They warned that the lack of circulation and low water levels could lead to eutrophication and negatively impact fish resources.

The ARBDD has approved dredging for approximately 80 meters of the canal in front of a commercial property. Recent measurements from the Lower Danube Water Management Authority indicate declining water levels in the region, with the Danube's height recorded at 15 centimeters in Tulcea and 56 centimeters in Sulina.
