Danube Delta fisherman catches 80kg Wels catfish

A fisherman in the Danube Delta captured a massive Wels catfish measuring approximately two meters in length and weighing about 80 kilograms. The catch followed a 20-minute struggle to bring the fish to the surface.

The fisherman utilized the ‘clonc’ method, which involves using a wooden instrument to create noise that attracts the catfish to feed. After documenting the catch with photographs and video, the fisherman released the fish back into the water, citing a commitment to catch and release practices.

This event follows other notable catches in the region, including a larger fish caught by the same individual in the Danube three weeks prior.
