Danube River flow expected to drop below seasonal averages

The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) reports that the Danube River's flow at the Romanian border is expected to decrease to 1,400 mc/s over the next seven days. This level is significantly lower than the multi-annual September average of 3,800 mc/s.

Downstream from the Iron Gates, flows are expected to decrease slightly, with the exception of the Harşova-Tulcea sector, which will remain relatively stable during the first two days of the forecast period. For the month of September, hydrologists estimate a maximum flow of 1,800 mc/s and a minimum of 1,400 mc/s.

While major river flows remain low, some interior rivers may see increases in levels and discharge toward the end of the period due to forecasted heavy rainfall, particularly in hilly and mountainous areas.
