Danville Mural Project named finalist for Kentucky beautification award

The Danville Mural Project has been named one of five finalists for the 10th annual Beautify the Bluegrass Governor’s Award. The competition, a partnership between Kentucky Living, Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, and the Kentucky Governor’s Office, recognizes community improvement projects across the state.

The Danville mural is an 800-square-foot artwork located on the side of the Coldwell Banker building. Created by artist Kirby Stafford in collaboration with Danville Community Development Director Melanie Crossfield, the piece depicts local landmarks such as the Boyle County Courthouse cupola and Constitution Square. The project was a joint effort involving the Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Danville.

Public voting for the award is open through September 1 via the Kentucky Living website. The other four finalists include Worthington Memorial Park, the Cumberland Falls Spring Cleanup, Paula’s Garden, and Cardinal Park.
