DAP urges MACC probe into RM2.1 billion rural road program spending

Members of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) have filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) requesting an investigation into Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The report concerns a disputed RM2.1 billion expenditure difference related to the Rural Road Program under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development. Several Members of Parliament, including Chong Zhemin, Lim Guan Eng, RSN Rayer, and Ganabatirau, were involved in submitting the report to the MACC in Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Shafiq Iqram Abdullah, Strategy Director of AMK, stated that the investigation should be independent and thorough, examining all parties with the authority to approve or direct financial commitments. He emphasized that the investigation should focus on facts and documents rather than political perception, noting that the Ministry of Finance has already provided figures explaining that certain commitments and expenditures exceeded annual allocations.
